六级考试是考试，众所周知，考试和平时的学习、应用时不一样的，最突出的就是出题有一定规律，大家可以因此找到一些应对办法来通过这一考试。比如六级的词汇考试有如下特点：
六级的单词题，是纯粹的单词题，不考词组，不考语法，而且只考形似义异的词，不考近义词区分。
一批经典词汇在考试中反复出现。
对六级考试词汇而言，需要记的经典单词大约是500个。
以下就是以真题（1997-1卷~~2001-6卷）为依托，引出这一批经典词汇。
其中红色标注的一些词汇和题目，是经典中的经典，常考！
还有几个词是“千年老二”——永远不以正确答案出现在选择支里，当它们出现在你的六级试卷上时，大可以视而不见，直接pass掉它，选其它项！
还有用加黑加粗标出的一些常见词根，下面通常都有一系列与该词根同源的词。很有用的一些词。可以的话，最好记住。
记词汇可以将有联系的，比如同词根的词汇一组一组的记，更好的是学着用，边用边体会，更牢固全面记，而且学着在写作中用一用这些词，不光使自己对这个词的记忆变得深刻，还能使文章活起来。然后，这些词会去抓阅卷老师的眼球（catch the eyeballs of the teacher ），使你的作文的分数上升到一个新的水平。这样的词（组）能有个两三个的话，你作文将会变得很精彩，分数当然也会跟着很喜人啦。So，在你下一次做真题的时候，试着用一两个你做题时碰到过的六级单词。
大家可能都觉得单词很恐怖，其实六级最大的杀手是阅读。过与否及分数高低，关键在此。个人认为对付阅读最大的法宝是大量做真题。猜出题人的意图，迎着出题者的意图去阅读答题，不要让自己的一些想法干预它！自己的原有想法先入为主，并以此为指导答题英语阅读是做英语阅读题的大忌！（个人认为……
另外，六级的考试是在下午3点开始，大家做真题可以选择在下午3点开始，一整套一整套的作（至少全套的阅读要做下来），这样比较有现场感觉，考试时状态相对会更好。
